Cruise

Cruise ship transfers.

Two terminals, narrow timing windows and a lot of luggage. Cruise transfers are planned backwards from the terminal, not forwards from your hotel.

Sydney cruise terminals: two, and not interchangeable

Cruise transfers in Sydney start with the terminal. Sydney Harbour works cruise ships out of the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, on the western side of the harbour under the Rocks, and White Bay Cruise Terminal at Rozelle, several kilometres west and with no rail connection at all. Which one you are using changes the route, the timing and often the price.

Confirm the terminal from your cruise documentation rather than assuming. Lines move between them, and White Bay in particular catches people out because it is much harder to reach independently.

Sydney's two cruise terminals sit on opposite sides of the harbour. Which one you are using changes the route, the timing and the price.

Why the terminal coach window drives Sydney cruise transfers

On a turnaround day both terminals are working thousands of passengers off one ship and onto the next, with a queue of coaches competing for a small number of bays and a marshalling system that does not care about your schedule. Arriving early does not get you in early; it gets you idling.

So we plan backwards. Your embarkation window sets the terminal arrival time, the terminal arrival time sets the pickup time, and the pickup time is what goes to your group. That is the opposite of how most people plan it, and it is why cruise transfers go smoothly or badly.

Usable capacity against luggage load. A 24-seat mini bus is a 24-seat vehicle only until everyone brings a suitcase.

Luggage decides the vehicle, not seats

Cruise passengers travel with more luggage than any other group we carry — often a large case each plus a carry-on. A 24-seat mini bus with 24 cruise passengers and 48 bags is not a 24-seat job. Plan on roughly two-thirds of the seat count for cruise work, or size up a tier.

Tell us bag counts as well as passenger counts when you enquire. It is the single most useful number you can give us for this kind of job.

Airport, hotel and post-cruise connections

We run cruise transfers across Sydney all year. Airport to terminal on arrival day, hotel block to terminal on embarkation morning, terminal to airport on disembarkation — all quoted as fixed-price transfers rather than hourly, so traffic is our problem rather than your invoice.

Disembarkation runs are the ones worth booking generously. Ships clear in waves, customs is unpredictable, and a group that gets held up should not be watching a meter. If your onward flight is tight, tell us and we will build the buffer in.

Frequently asked

Questions we get asked about this.

Which terminal will my ship use?

Check your cruise documentation — Sydney uses both the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and White Bay at Rozelle, and they are on opposite sides of the harbour. Tell us which one when you book.

How early should the coach arrive at the terminal?

We work backwards from your embarkation window rather than arriving as early as possible — on a turnaround day the coach bays are contested and early arrival just means queuing.

How many people fit with cruise luggage?

Plan on about two-thirds of the seat count. Give us bag counts as well as headcount and we will size the vehicle properly.

Can you do airport to cruise terminal directly?

Yes, and it is one of our most common cruise jobs. Provide the flight number and we track the arrival.

Is disembalkation pickup risky if the ship is late?

We monitor the disembarkation and hold the vehicle. For groups with tight onward flights we recommend building extra buffer into the booking rather than the schedule.
