How charter pricing actually works.
Almost every charter has to be quoted. Not as a stalling tactic — because the same 40-seat coach can differ by hundreds of dollars between two bookings depending on where it starts, how long it is held and what day it runs. What we can do is publish the real Sydney market numbers as a base to budget against, then quote your job against your actual itinerary.
Charter in Sydney is priced per vehicle, not per person.
This is the single most important thing to understand before you request a quote anywhere. A 45-seat coach costs the same whether you put 30 people on it or 45. That is what makes group charter cheap compared with rideshare or taxis — and it is also why matching the vehicle to the real headcount matters so much.
Four things then move the number: vehicle size, how long the vehicle is committed to you, how far it has to travel from our depot, and when — weekends, very early starts, very late finishes and peak season all cost more, for the same reason hotels do.
What bus hire cost in Sydney actually looks like.
| Vehicle | Per hour | Full day (8–10 hrs) |
|---|---|---|
| Mini bus, 12 – 24 seats | $90 – $150 | from $900 |
| Midi coach, 25 – 35 seats | $120 – $200 | $1,000 – $1,800 |
| Full-size coach, 36 – 57 seats | $150 – $250 | $1,000 – $2,500 |
| Wedding charter (any size) | $150 – $250 | $1,500 – $2,500 |
Ranges are indicative and exclude GST unless stated, along with parking, airport access charges and driver accommodation on multi-day work. Weekend, peak-season and out-of-hours work sits at the top of each range.
The other numbers worth knowing
| Item | Typical | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Whole-market band | $120 – $350 per hour | The full spread quoted across Sydney operators in 2026, from the smallest vehicle off-peak to a large coach on a peak-season Saturday. |
| Minimum hire | 3 – 4 hours | Near-universal across the market. A vehicle and driver committed to your booking cannot be sold to anyone else in that window. |
| Overtime beyond booked hours | $150 – $350 per hour | Charged by vehicle size. Cheaper to book the buffer than to run over. |
| Deposit | typically $200 – $500 | Scales with booking size, with the balance commonly due about a week before travel. |
| Short and airport transfers | fixed price, not hourly | Point-to-point work has defined endpoints, so it is quoted as a set fee rather than against the clock. |
Why we still quote rather than sell from the table
Take a 40-seat coach for eight hours. Starting from a depot twenty minutes from your pickup on a Wednesday in June, it sits near the bottom of the range. The identical vehicle and identical hours, starting an hour away on a Saturday in December with a 5am first pickup, can land near the top — before parking or airport access is added. Same coach, same duration, materially different price.
A published tariff would have to pick one of those numbers and be wrong about the other. So we publish the market, and quote the job.

Sydney charter pricing questions, answered plainly.
Is there a minimum hire?
Yes — most Sydney charter work carries a minimum of three to four hours, because a vehicle and driver committed to your job cannot be sold to anyone else in that window. Short point-to-point transfers are the exception and are quoted as a fixed price.
What is depot-to-depot pricing?
Charter time is generally counted from when the vehicle leaves our depot to when it returns, not from your first pickup. That is why a job starting near our depot can be cheaper than an identical job on the far side of the city, and why it is worth telling us your suburb early.
Hourly hire or a two-way transfer — which is cheaper?
If your group travels out in the morning and back in the evening with a long gap in between, a two-way transfer is usually cheaper than hourly hire, because we can use the vehicle elsewhere during the gap. If you need the bus with you all day, it is an hourly job. Tell us the shape of the day and we will quote whichever is cheaper for you.
Are tolls included?
Sydney metropolitan tolls are included in our quotes. Venue parking, airport access charges and attraction entry fees are not — they are listed as exclusions so there is no surprise on the invoice.
Why do weekends cost more?
Demand. Saturday is wedding, sport and event day across the whole Sydney fleet at once. Midweek and off-peak bookings sit at the lower end of the range; December, major concerts and race days sit at the top.
What if a quote comes in far below these ranges?
Treat it as information rather than a win. A price well under the market range usually means one of three things: a broker who will pass your job to the cheapest available sub-contractor, a vehicle older or smaller than you pictured, or an inclusions list that quietly leaves out tolls, parking and waiting time. Ask what is included before you compare.
